AM Inbox: Deck the virtual halls
RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 of the top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:
Home Depot, 11/9 — Preview - Be the First to Reserve New Holiday Decor!
Home Depot is once again playing with virtual homes. Two months after promoting its Virtual Home merchandising tool in a Sept. 7 email, the retailer is back with a more customizable, more engaging tool at thddecorations.com that’s designed to help customers decorate their homes, both inside and out. The experience is hosted by Mrs. Claus and is a big step up from their previous attempt at this.

Abercrombie & Fitch, 11/9 — Go behind the scenes with Abercrombie's sexy New Faces.
After putting out a casting call in an Aug. 8 email, Abercrombie is back with a video that gives people a look behind the scenes of an A&F photo shoot and ends with another call for models.
Lands’ End, 11/10 — Turtlenecks with Outerwear HQ banner
It could have been much worse, but Lands’ End’s latest email slipped through with what is clearly a production subject line that describes the content of the email: a turtleneck promotion on top, followed by a banner promoting its Outerwear HQ. We’ve seen subject lines that say “TBD,” so again this could have been far worse. In fact, other retailers should consider following Land’s End’s lead, giving their in-production emails names that plainly describe what’s in them. That way, if an email does slip through the cracks with that production subject line, it’s not a total disaster.
