Week-End Trends: New Year's emails peak
Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:
The RetailEmail Index fell 10% to 129 during the week ending Jan. 5, and is down 40% from where it was four weeks ago.

*The RetailEmail Index is a general measure of the email volume generated by the top 100 online retailers.
Last week, 80% of the retailers in the RetailEmail Index send out at least one email, down from 82% the week prior, and down 93% from the 4-weeks-ago period.

New Year's: There were 47 emails referencing the new year last week, up from 19 the week prior. The biggest day for New Year's emails was Tuesday, the day after New Year's Day.
Valentine's Day: There were 3 references to Valentine's Day last week, our first.
Easter: We got our first reference to Easter courtesy of Lillian Vernon.
