Ping Time: Poor support for ALT tags

Our latest spin around the mediasphere turned up the following nuggets:

>>Mark Wyner at Campaign Monitor tested how ALT tags were handled by numerous webmail and desktop clients, only to find that many of them don’t display ALT text at all. >>Follow the ping

>>Return Path’s Third Annual Holiday Email Consumer Survey found that 51.2% of those surveyed said that the main reason they opened an email was because of the “prior value with the email program,” driving home the fact that this is a relationship medium. Nearly half (49.1%) said they took advantage of several email offers this past year. >>Follow the ping

>>Internet Retailer says that BareNecessities.com saw big gains from segmenting its email marketing lists into six segments. >>Follow the ping

>>MarketingSherpa shares a case study about Petco adding product reviews to its emails. The big takeaway: Petco discovered that clickthroughs on the email creative with product reviews were at least 200% higher than those without. >>Follow the ping
