Week-End Trends: Post-Mother’s Day hangover

Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:

The RetailEmail Index fell 12% to 154 during the week ending May 18, and is down 4% from where it was four weeks ago.


*The RetailEmail Index is a general measure of the email volume generated by 100 of the top online retailers.

Last week, 83% of the retailers in the RetailEmail Index send out at least one email, down from 87% the week prior, and down from 89% during the 4-weeks-ago period.



Mother’s Day: The retailers in the RetailEmail Index sent 4 emails referencing Mother’s Day last week, down from 65 the week prior.

Memorial Day: There were 8 emails referencing Memorial Day last week, up from 1 the week before.

Father’s Day: There were 7 emails referencing Father’s Day last week, up from none the week prior.

4th of July: There were no emails referencing the 4th of July last week, down from 1 the week before.

Other things referenced by retailers: graduation, weddings, barbeque, travel, camping, summer
