AM Inbox: Retailers’ spin on serialized content
RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 of the top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:
Kmart, 6/6 — 10 Days of Unbelievable Price Breaks
At the Email Insider Summit last month, Dela Quist, the CEO of AlchemyWorx, advised email marketers to try using serialized content to drive interest and open rates for the next email. It’s an interesting idea. But I haven’t seen any retailer serialize content like articles or how-to information. However, I do regularly see deal-a-day series like this Summer Breaks program from Kmart. Gloss also had a nice serialized offer recently, giving away a different style of makeup bag for eight days straight (see April 18 AM Inbox). But serialized content is something to think about for retailers that include articles, projects and other items in their newsletters.

Hallmark, 6/7 — Dancing Dad Contest, Design a Card, Summer Scrapbooking
Here’s the latest Take 5 email from Hallmark. This monthly email launched back at the start of the year (see Jan. 9 AM Inbox) and has just a nice mix of projects, advice, polls and short videos.
