AM Inbox: Happy Thanksgiving and have a great Pink Friday

RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 of the top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:

TigerDirect, 11/21 — TigerDirect Supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure
At this time of year it’s tough to stand out in the inbox, but I think TigerDirect accomplishes this with their “Pink Friday” campaign. With Breast Cancer Awareness Month just last month, this issue should still be relatively top of mind. And the holidays are certainly a time of giving and charity, so perhaps this campaign will tap into those sentiments. Ann Taylor also tied their Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign to the holiday season and shared the results of their efforts just last week (see Nov. 16 AM Inbox), so TigerDirect’s move is another example of these two selling seasons bleeding over into each other a little.

Spiegel, 11/21 — What Are You Wishing For? Tell Us & Take 20% OFF!
Spiegel is looking to collect some expressed merchandise preferences (vs. implied merchandise preferences from clickstream analysis) for their marketing and merchandising efforts, asking subscribers to select the item that they are wishing for most among five items presented. In exchange for your vote, Spiegel gives you a discount code good for 25% off your purchase through Sunday. It will be interesting to see if Spiegel will use this data in aggregate or use it to market to individual subscribers.

Toys “R” Us, 11/21 — Sneak Peek: 101 Door Busters, Thanksgiving Day Online Only Deals & More!
Here’s another email that uses a multi-day, multi-prong approach to promoting sales. You get to see the Black Friday deals on Wednesday so you can plan your attack. You get special Thanksgiving Day sales so you can shop when all the stores are closed. And then you get the store hours for Friday.
