EB Games, 1/22 — EB Games Weekly Newsletter 1.22.08
EB Games has decided to dial back the dual branding of their emails, dropping the GameStop logo from the tops of their emails and moving it to the bottom of the right-hand column in the form of a “Powered by GameStop” logo. They dedicated the newfound space at the top of the email to more navigation links. In addition to adding a “Store Locator” and other links up in that space, they’ve also added a second navigation bar that highlights genres of games, supplementing the nav bar that focuses on gaming platforms.

Banana Republic, 1/22 — WorkStyleFile: Office Chic in Black & White
It appears that Banana Republic is experimenting with a new feature, the WorkStyleFile, a promotional service piece that gives subscribers ideas and advice on fashion. This one offers advice on how to assemble outfits around the print trend. I’m a big fan of giving customers context for your products, especially lifestyle products like apparel, cosmetics, etc. I’m also a big fan of Banana Republic’s photography, which is kinetic and cheerful. This email is designed well for preview panes, but the readability could be improved by making the captions for the images bigger.
