I don’t recall any retailer last year invoking Martin Luther King Jr.’s name to hold a sale so I was pretty surprised to see this email from HSN. It’s a safe bet that some people will find it insensitive, if not offensive. The recent fight between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama is proof that there are great sensitivities regarding the civil rights leader.
NFLshop, 1/17 — NFLShop.com: Pre-Order Conf Champs Gear + Save 30% On Select Gear
Ahead of the other sporting goods retailers, NFLshop is offering pre-orders of AFC and NFC championship gear. Based on last year, we can expect NFLshop, Sports Authority, Dick’s Sporting Goods and others to be emailing subscribers Sunday night after these contests have been decided to lock in sale of championship gear.
