Week-End Trends: Upwelling of emotion

Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:

The RetailEmail Index rose 2% to 192 during the week ending Jan. 25, and is down 7% from where it was four weeks ago. The Index score indicates that on average the top 100 online retailers each sent just more than 1.9 promotional emails last week.

RetailEmail Participation Rates: Last week, 90% of the retailers in the RetailEmail Index send out at least one promotional email, up from 87% the week prior, but down from 91% during the 4-weeks-ago period.

Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14): The retailers in the RetailEmail Index sent 39 emails referencing Valentine’s Day last week, up from 7 the week prior.

New Year’s (Jan. 1): There were 7 emails referencing New Year’s last week, down from 14 the prior week.

St. Patrick’s Day (March 17): Lillian Vernon gave us our first reference to St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday (see Jan. 25 AM Inbox).

Easter (March 23): Lillian Vernon also gave us our first reference to Easter on Thursday (see Jan. 25 AM Inbox).
