Week-End Trends: Entering the heart of Valentine’s Day promotions

Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:

The RetailEmail Index rose 4% to 200 during the week ending Feb. 1, and is up 11% from where it was four weeks ago. The Index score indicates that on average the top 100 online retailers each sent 2 promotional emails last week.

RetailEmail Participation Rates: Last week, 87% of the retailers in the RetailEmail Index send out at least one promotional email, down from 90% the week prior, and down from 88% during the 4-weeks-ago period.

Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14): The retailers in the RetailEmail Index sent 58 emails referencing Valentine’s Day last week, up from 39 the week prior.

New Year’s (Jan. 1): There were 5 emails referencing New Year’s last week, down from 7 the prior week.

St. Patrick’s Day (March 17): There was 1 email referencing St. Patrick’s Day last week, on par with the week before.

Easter (March 23): There were no references to Easter last week, down from1 the week prior.
