>>Free webinar on the digital consumer on March 20. Get the details and register today.

RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:

Art.com, 3/11 — Free Shipping - 3 Days Only!
This is the most inventive and relevant way that I’ve seen a retailer ask for subscribers to update their preferences. This shows them very concretely how their indicated preferences will be used.

Gap, 3/11 — Best of the Season: The Sunkissed Khaki
Gap has added a preheader message to their emails, making it easy for folks with images blocked or viewing the email on their mobile device to take action. In this case, Gap has put the preheader message before both the “click to view online” link and the whitelisting instructions. It’s also worth noting that Gap swapped the position of those other two elements as well, putting the “click to view online” link before the whitelisting instructions.

Here’s the new preheader…

Crutchfield, 3/11 — Free matching stand and big savings with Samsung big-screens
It’s not quite serialized content because they all point to the same page of Q&A’s, but Crutchfield is counting down their five most commonly asked questions. And as usual, they’re including pictures of staff, which adds a great humanizing touch.

Tying it to the start of March Madness, Dell has been highlighting a deal-a-day offer in their emails, although they haven’t been sending an email everyday to do so. (Explore tag: Deal-a-Day Campaigns)
