RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:
Overstock, 3/13 — Introducing the new Overstock.com Cars
Email is a great way to soft launch a new category or service. Just start with small references in your emails and when you’re ready for a hard launch, send out a dedicated email on the subject. Overstock has been quietly touting the new Overstock.com Cars store for a little over a month now in their newsletters with a small banner near the bottom of their emails. Now they’re ready for more traffic and are stoking interest with this dedicated email. There still might be some bugs to work out though. I did a search for Honda Civic Hybrids in Manhattan and quickly found my way to a 404 error.

Finish Line, 3/13 — Go Green!
St. Patrick’s Day references have been a bit muted this year, but perhaps activity will pick up today and over the weekend. Where’s the love of the Irish? In last year’s St. Patrick’s Day Season Finale I accused Finish Line of being lazy with their St. Patty’s Day references because all they did was slap some four-leaf clovers on their email. They tried a bit harder this year, giving subscribers a selection of green shoes.
