The RetailEmail Index fell 2% to 193 during the week ending March 7, and is down 8% from where it was four weeks ago. The Index score indicates that on average the top 100 online retailers each sent roughly 1.9 promotional emails last week.

RetailEmail Participation Rates: Last week, 89% of the retailers in the RetailEmail Index sent out at least one promotional email, down from 91% the week prior, but up from 88% during the 4-weeks-ago period.

RetailEmail Seasonality Meter: Leap Day might have stolen a little of Easter and St. Patrick’s Day’s thunder last week, but now that that’s out of the way those two holidays will shine. Normally St. Patrick’s Day and Easter don’t fall so close to one another, so it will be interesting to see how much St. Patrick’s Day references suffer at the hand of Easter.

Other things referenced by retailers: spring, Daylight Savings, tax season, March Madness
