Week-End Trends: Leap Day tops Seasonality Meter

Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:

The RetailEmail Index rose 1% to 197 during the week ending Feb. 29, and is down 1% from where it was four weeks ago. The Index score indicates that on average the top 100 online retailers each sent just shy of 2 promotional emails last week.

RetailEmail Participation Rates: Last week, 90% of the retailers in the RetailEmail Index sent out at least one promotional email, up from 89% the week prior, and up from 87% during the 4-weeks-ago period.

RetailEmail Seasonality Meter: While only 8% of the emails for the week were Leap Day-themed, more than a third of the emails on Friday were related to Leap Day. With Easter coming two weeks earlier than last year (it's March 23 this year), we should see a major uptick in both Easter and St. Patrick's Day emails next week.
