Circuit City, 4/10 — Your bonus coupon's inside . . . swing into spring & save!
Circuit City is the latest retailer to use their email program to promote one of their blogs, in this case their CityCenter Blog by Matthew West. The blog appears to have launched at the end of last October, and Circuit City has been featuring content from Matthew in their CityLife Newsletter since late last year. But this is the first time that Circuit City has mentioned the blog in their promotional emails. One thought: How about linking to blog content from the CityLife Newsletter? Update: As Matthew points out in his comment below, Circuit City does indeed link to blog content from their CityLife Newsletter, although they'll be making the blog connection more clear starting next month. Neiman Marcus, 4/10 — InCircle Double-Point Shopping Event + 1000 Bonus Points
Many retailers promote their credit cards and loyalty programs via their email programs. Here are four things I really like about this one from Neiman Marcus:
1. The event is for credit card/loyalty program members only. That exclusivity encourages non-members to consider joining.
2. It incentivizes non-members to join by offering bonus points when they make their first purchase during the event, and includes a secondary call-to-action for card applications.
3. The event spans their store, online and direct mail channels. It’s great that it allows customers to shop through their preferred channel.
4. They use the word “hautest.” That’s the hottest. (I bet the stodgy AP thinks that’s not a word.)

Glad to see that CityLife does indeed link to the blog. It's down pretty deep in the email and better labeling may help. I just didn't notice the connection.
By the way, I really like the content on the blog, especially the more recent posts that explain what terms mean. Obviously, demystifying technology makes people feel more confident in pulling the trigger on a purchase. I think your posts do an excellent job of that.
