RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:
Bluefly, 4/1 — Enjoy $20 Off Today Only-- No foolin'
There were a handful of April Fools’ emails yesterday, none of which was too adventurous (see Scanner below for the subject lines of the others). This email from Bluefly was the most engaging, with its survey. Although the email doesn’t mention what kind of survey it is, it turns out that it was a strange, jokey survey with questions that were a mix of jokes, fashion and trivia.

MLB, 4/1 — Shop our 2008 Spring Catalog
This is a good example of using email to promote your catalog in both its virtual and paper forms. I routinely see retailers promoting their virtual catalogs (which are almost universally unreadable and unshopable), but few promote their paper catalog in tandem so prominently.

Neiman Marcus, 4/1 — FREE SHIPPING + Are you up on the hottest new designers?
At the bottom of this email, Neiman Marcus announces the website relaunch for Cusp, a retail brand that they launched in 2006.

SUBJECTIVITY SCANNER:
Road Runner Sports, 4/1 — Happy April Fools' Day! These deals on 499+ items are no joke!
Blair, 4/1 — No joke! Every item ships for under a buck.
SmartBargains, 4/1 — No joke: these prices & free shipping – gone at midnight.
RedEnvelope, 4/1 — No Fooling -- SAVE 25% ON YOUR ORDER -- Six Days Only!
Crate & Barrel, 4/1 — Spring Trends Report
Drs. Foster & Smith, 4/1 — Get Your Drs. Foster & Smith VISA!
Norm Thompson, 4/1 — It's FREE! 10-pc Beauty Travel Set with $49 purchase.
Spiegel, 4/1 — Make a lunch date with Spiegel: Shop our 5-Hour Lunchtime Sale!
