AM Inbox: Changing sender addresses
>>I’m off to the Email Insider Summit in Florida for the rest of the week. I’ll be back in action on Tuesday.
RetailEmail.Blogspot monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:
Dell, 5/20 — Last Chance to Save Up to $540 on Tax Rebate Check Offers
Dell has changed their sender address from the well-branded dell@dellhome.usa.dell.com to the more cryptic us_epp_marketing@dellhome.usa.dell.com. For more on branding in sender lines, check out Sender Line Branding Tactics in Retail Emails.
Alibris, 5/20 — Book lover, sell on Alibris and open your shelves to fellow book buyers.
Alibris has also changed their sender address, changing it to seller.basic@alibris.i.delivery.net, although the whitelisting instructions at the top of the email still asks subscribers to add the old address, books@alibris.i.delivery.net, to their address books. If you change your sender address, make sure you change your whitelisting instructions. It’s also not a bad idea to alert your subscribers to sender address changes ahead of time and ask them to whitelist the new address while still sending from the old one. That will give you a jump on the whitelisting process.
Backcountry.com, 5/20 — Backcountry.com Newsletter: 5 Do-it-All Destinations, Bike Tuning for Dummies, Animal Encounters
I’ve talked before about Backcountry.com’s monthly newsletter and its very engaging style (see July 25 AM Inbox). They have a great voice and totally sell the “we love the outdoors as much as you do” message with their various newsletter components. Here’s the online version of the email. In particular, check out the article on animal encounters. There’s great, practical advice delivered with a lot of humor that makes you want to keep reading and also helps you remember the tips (who wants to look like a giant Cheeto to a bear?).

SUBJECTIVITY SCANNER:
Chadwick’s, 5/20 — 40% off and MEGA Memorial Day Savings!
Newegg, 5/20 — Memorial Day Sale: Kingston 4GB Flash Drive $15.99 and More!
Drs. Foster & Smith, 5/20 — Memorial Day Sale
Cooking.com, 5/20 — Best Dad's Day Picks - Father's Day is June 15th
