AM Inbox: Recruiting SMS subscribers via email

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from our inbox this morning:

In the Email Experience Council’s most recent Two-Click Survey, 17% of respondents said that email had the most synergies with SMS (text messages). Here’s that synergy in action: At the bottom of this email, Victoria’s Secret is recruiting subscribers for their SMS program. Office Depot (see Feb. 15 AM Inbox) and 1-800-Flowers (see Feb. 6 AM Inbox) have also used their email programs to recruit SMS subscribers. The next step here is to create a unified subscription/preference center where customers can sign up for email, SMS, RSS, etc. all in one place.
