AM Inbox: Product review triple-threat

>>How do you measure inactivity? Answer the latest Two-Click Survey on the eec homepage.

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:

Alibris, 9/24 — AHA! You've finally found it at Alibris
Alibris deploys a product review triple-threat in this email, highlighting top-rated products, incentivizing subscribers to review products, and asking for feedback on a staff review. I don’t recall having seen another retailer ask for feedback on a staff review, so I think that’s a novel way to spur engagement. Explore Product Reviews tag.

Harry & David, 9/25 — Harvest Bonus: 1/2 OFF your 2nd box of luxurious Royal Riviera Pears!
Starting with a Sept. 8 email, Harry & David redesigned their email headers, moving the navigation bar from beside their logo to below it. The new expanded nav bar takes up more space, but perhaps the placement will spur more clickthroughs. As part of this redesign, they also added a "Click to view on a mobile device" link.

Here’s the old header from an Aug. 26 email:

Bluefly, 9/24 — Back In Print
Clicking on the model in this email took you to a “Patterned Day Dresses” category page that featured no products whatsoever. While Target forgetting to write a subject line for their email is a more glaring oopsy (see Sept. 26 AM Inbox), broken links and messed up landing pages such as this one are much more common. Make sure that checking links is part of your pre-flight checklist.
