AM Inbox: ElfYourself returns, but has competition

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:

OfficeMax, 11/20 — Elf Yourself is Back and Better than Ever
OfficeMax debuts a new and improved ElfYourself microsite—although I couldn’t get their embedding function to work with my blog, so I guess it’s more new than improved. They have more competition this year, with Sephora’s Mistletoe Makeover (see Nov. 17 AM Inbox) and Guitar Center’s A Real Guitar vying for attention with viral microsites of their own.



HPshopping, 11/20 — One Day - One seriously good deal
In addition to RadioShack rolling out a “24 Days of Deals” campaign (see Nov. 20 AM Inbox) and Target running “Deals of the Day,” now HP is starting a “Deal of the Day” campaign. Typically these deal-a-day and “12 Days of Christmas” campaigns begin around Dec. 1. Looks like some retailers are getting an early start.



Backcountry, 11/20 — Take 20% off Jackets, Clothing & More
One great image really can pull an email together. That said, combining that image with HTML text is even better. In this email, at least the discount code is HTML text, which hopefully encourages subscribers to turn images on.
