Week-End Trends: Majority of retail emails mentioning holidays
Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:
The Retail Email Index rose 4% to a new year-to-date high of 248 during the week ending Nov. 14, 2008, and is up 12% from where it was four weeks ago. That’s the Index’s biggest 4-week increase of the year. The Index score indicates that the top 100 online retailers sent nearly 2.5 promotional emails each on average last week.

The Retail Email Participation Rate: Tuesday, which was Veterans Day, was the most popular day to send retail emails last week. Clearly retailers tried to take advantage of some people being off for Veterans Day.

The Retail Email Seasonality Meter: The majority of retail emails are now mentioning the holiday and Christmas. The new trend of “early Black Friday” deals continues.

Other things referenced by retailers: cashmere, coats, boots, holiday cooking and parties, winter sports
