Before we get emails about the end of guaranteed delivery via standard shipping next week, we have deadlines for personalized products (as in this email) and for oversized products (like we had in a recent KB Toys email). If you sell personalized products, make sure that subscribers know when the deadline for orders is.
JCPenney, 12/8 — Free Shipping on Our Best Gifts
If you haven’t heard about this already, JCPenney has a very funny microsite, Beware of the Doghouse, where thoughtless boyfriends and husbands get exiled for buying insulting gifts for the women in their lives. You can put someone in the doghouse by completing a form or via Facebook. It’s all very slick.

This email was ripe for an animated gif that rotated between images of this vest suede-side out and fur-side out.

This subject line is bordering on misleading. Inside it explains that you get a $20 gift card with a purchase of $100 or more.

I love Smith-Harmon's enthusiasm. It's so great to have a connection with people who really "get" and get excited by email marketing. (Truly, there are not that many of us out there!) I count myself very lucky to have found such accomplished enthusiasts to collaborate with on the REI program. They are helping to bring amazing opportunities to fruition with panache.
