The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:
Backcountry, 5/5 — Rain or Shine - Get out and Play
I love Backcountry’s fun calls-to-actions and standout buttons. They really connect to what subscribers want to do rather than turning this simply into a transactional request: Buy Now! Backcountry’s CTAs demonstrate that the company wants to empower their customers to get out and enjoy the outdoors safely and comfortably. Do your CTAs demonstrate a customer-centricity or a company-centricity?

Coldwater Creek, 5/5 — SAVE $30 + value-packed NEW LOOKS, just in!
In this email Coldwater Creek works in a product detail image so that the body copy is nicely framed by it and a modeled product image. When promoting detailed textiles, consider working a swatch like this into your design.

L.L. Bean, 5/5 — Today's Markdown (Going Fast) + Summer's Best
After adding a link to their Facebook profile to their emails about a month ago, L.L. Bean has now added a link to their Twitter stream. I like how they’ve created a communications bar with links to forward to a friend, Facebook, Twitter, and their preference center.
