AM Inbox: "12 Days of Christmas" subject lines

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:
Cooking.com, 12/4 — 12 Deals of Christmas - Save up to $200 on Popular Gifts
As in past years, there are a fair number of retailers running “12 Days of Christmas” campaigns with either daily emails or daily deals on their website that are periodically promoted in their emails. Retailers including Cooking.com, Blair, HP and ShopNBC have begun their campaigns this year and it’s interesting to see the different subject line tactics they use. As you can see in the Subjectivity Scanner below, HP doesn’t reveal what the deals are in the subject lines, while Blair and ShopNBC do. And while HP and ShopNBC have standard components to their subject lines, Blair is much more flexible with theirs.
Lands’ End, 12/7 — 1 day left! 25% off everything & Free Shipping
In the Dec. 4 AM Inbox I pointed out a ShopNBC email that highlighted shipping deadlines in its header to ensure that they appeared in the preview pane. Lands’ End takes a slightly different approach, using a preview pane banner to highlight their Christmas shipping deadline.

And in this email, Kohl’s uses a preview pane banner to highlight the shipping deadline for Hanukkah.

I love Smith-Harmon's enthusiasm. It's so great to have a connection with people who really "get" and get excited by email marketing. (Truly, there are not that many of us out there!)
