J. Crew, 12/21 — Need a present in a pinch?
J. Crew dedicates an email to promoting their e-gift cards, which are traditionally pitched as the “perfect last-minute gift.” In this email, J. Crew uses a bit of fun animation to support the swiftness of this gift. As discussed in the Retail Email Guide to the Holiday Season, e-gift card messaging is particularly important during the few days right before Christmas. E-gift card messaging today, tomorrow and on Christmas Eve should be significant.
Oriental Trading, 12/21 — Get set to celebrate & save 20%
This email not only mentions New Year’s parties but it refers broadly to football parties. With the Super Bowl coming up on Feb. 7 and plenty of college bowl games between now and then, football messaging is big during January, with TVs being the primary product pushed. I haven’t tracked references to the Super Bowl or “Big Game” in past years, but I will be this year.
