The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:
Sears, 1/26 — Don't Miss Out! One Day Sale - TODAY Only!
The first quarter is a great time to get to know your old subscribers again. It’s a New Year, so they may have new priorities, new goals, or a new outlook that might change their email preferences for topics. They may have also gotten a new products or a new mobile device that might impact their preferences. I’ve seen very little preference update messaging so far this year, but here’s a progressive profiling attempt by Sears, which is looking to collect birthdates for triggered messaging.

Macy’s, 1/26 — Extra 15% off + Free Shipping every day-save on home essentials!
In yesterday’s AM Inbox, I highlighted an email from Macy’s announcing everyday free shipping. I like how they follow up the announcement with the preview pane banner message in this email. Subscribers don’t open every email you send them, so important messages like this need to be repeated across several emails.
