The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing
campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my
inbox this morning:
Kmart, 9/23 — Online

Kmart is pushing their layaway service to lock in some early
holiday purchases by running a sweepstakes where they pay off someone’s layaway
in every store every week. This is just one of many instances of retailers using
early holiday messaging to get an edge on competitors. In fact, 25% of major
online retailers have already mentioned the holiday season in at least one
email so far since July. That’s by far the fastest start recorded in the past 6
years. For instance, last year at this point only 17% of retailers had
mentioned the holiday season.
